As most of you are aware, Google and android are integrated together. This is because android is one of the most popular Mobile Os in the world. It is integral that they respond to each other in a way they both understand and in the most efficient way possible. Nearly every one who owns an android device knows about android settings. But to most Google settings is a mystery.
The Google settings is located in the android settings on newer devices, older devices there is normally an cog icon in your app drawer. Inside are some pretty obvious settings. But also there are settings you perhaps didn't know existed. This guide is here to try and explain a few of these settings. Meaning you can get a better experience from your android device and google.
1. Ad Controls
Inside the Advert section there is a lot of information regarding you as a customer. There is an Advert identification, This is basically your profile page. it is called when an app requires an advert. It has all your preferences stored in there for example; what adverts appeal to you. Google then displays adverts based on this. If you want to start fresh you can opt out of ads personalization and reset your advert identification.
2. App preview Messages
This setting is quite a new setting to google settings. In layman's terms this is the way that google deals with vast number of messaging apps like Instagram and so on. This System uses api (application programming interface) keys to respond to messages. It requires a phone number for set up and once an app is connected it will show here.
3. Control connected apps
While signing in to an app via google is the fastest way to sign an app. What you probably don't realize, is that once you uninstall an app that has been signed in this way. The Connection the app made is still there and has to be removed manually.
This section helps with which apps stay connected to google. When you do go in to this section you will probably see a very long list. My advice to you would be to remove any credentials that you no longer use.
4. Control when Google uploads any files
The Data management Section is for doing this. At the moment it has one function and that is update drive enabled app files. You can pick WiFi or data.
Default setting is WiFi only but there is also the option set to data and WiFi if your plan was uncapped. Again my advice would be to leave on WiFi only.
5. Manage Casting Devices
This setting allows you to show a media control bar in your notification drawer so you don't have to unlock your phone to pause, play, fast forward or rewind a casted piece of media. It will also show the name of the casting device. This notification can just be slid a way if no longer needed.
6. Back up Your photos to Google
With the Google back up option enabled. every photo and video stored on your phone will be backed up to your personal google photo library. So even if your phone crashes you don't lose your precious moments.
You also have options for photo quality, choice to buy more storage for higher resolution, an when to upload the photo/video. default again it is set to WiFi only. A setting which I would keep.
7. Revoke Location access for installed apps
It is basically true google never stops tracking you. The default setting is to track your location. this is because of apps like google maps requiring your location to find fastest route etc... But if for any reason you are not happy with this you can disable tracking and go off grid lol.
You can also see a list of all apps that have recently asked for your location and choose to cut them off if needed. There is also another option that allows you to change location accuracy from high to low.
8. Setting up your other phone/Device
Setup nearby device option is for setting up a second device over blue tooth or wifi from your current location. This works by taking the data from one device and streaming it to the second.
9.Gamer profile
this group of options help you Restore your google gaming profile. Options include Making your profile discover-able and blocking various notifications. this page even has an option to mute the whole game engine if required. You can even delete you whole game profile and start afresh
10. Restoring your phone-book
We have all been there when you have a new phone the tedious task of entering phone numbers and contacts manually. In google settings there is an option to back up all phone numbers and contacts. So if there is ever a problem you can just restore them at the click of a button. if you sign in to a lot of devices this list may be impressive.
11. Setting up names for people including you
If you need a new name for google assistant to recognize you by you need to head of to this section and tweak the name.
you can even set up nick names for contacts here.
12. Locating your lost/stolen phone
The Android device manager is a super convenient feature which lets you search for phones which are either lost or can’t be found (slipped through the sofa cushion, maybe?). This particular pair of setting will help you find your lost phone by tracking its location.
in case that it’s stolen you can also remotely lock the device or erase the data from it.
13. Finally How to enable Smart lock
The smart lock for Google accounts saves your passwords and using that it signs in to all the connected apps and websites. However, it’s not a safe practice for every app and website that you use. In case if you aren’t sure of an app’s security measure you can use the Never save feature to opt out from them.
its All that simple lol any questions head over to our facebook page or group and ask any question needed thanks for reading.
